あらすじ
Ilmari "Mars" Kaskinen has led the league in penalty minutes three years running, which is the only reason the Sable Harbor Kingfishers keep him — until a new general manager staples a sixty-minute conduct cap to his contract and sentences him to community-service hours with the 5 a.m. ice crew. Clemency "Clem" Pelletier works Gate 3 as the arena's penalty box attendant, drives Doris the Zamboni before dawn, and is quietly drowning in the arrears on her grandmother's shop, Pelletier Edgeworks; when a burst pipe in the team billet lands Mars in the room across her landing, she takes his rent money and his ridiculous deal: teach him how to sit still. He falls first, all the way, before she can admit she is the anonymous voice behind "Two Minutes for Everything," the town column that has been reading his hands for two seasons. By the last game the secret is public, her credential is pulled, he is sitting on fifty-eight minutes with a fractured orbit no one on the roster knows about — and the only way either of them keeps anything is if the enforcer refuses, once, to drop his gloves.
